Abstract

This research discussed the process of forming the slang words contained in the Aladdin (2019) movie script. The purpose of this study was to find out the type and process of word formation from slang words contained in the movie. This research used the theory of the word formation process from George Yule (2006). Qualitative method was used in this study to collect and analyze data from the Aladdin (2019) movie script. Researchers managed to get 24 slang data contained in the movie script. This study stated the process of forming slang words from the Aladdin (2019) movie script and showed that only six types of word forming processes were found. They were clipping, multiple processes, blending, compounding, coinage, derivation, and borrowing. Clipping and Compounding were the most dominant processes found from Aladdin (2019) movie script.
