Abstract

Sometimes humans experience fear and this fear can cause anxiety. In this case, the researcher is interested in analyzing the topic of anxieties that occurs in the main
character Aza Holmes in the film “Turtles All the Way Down” (2024) as the object of analysis. The main character in this movie is named Aza Holmes. She shows the anxiety problems she faces. Therefore, this research aims to describe the types of anxiety experienced by the main character and the causes of the main character's anxiety. This research uses Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis theory that views anxiety as the ego's reaction to pressure from the id, superego, and reality. The researcher found three types of anxiety experienced by Aza Holmes, namely realistic anxiety, neurotic anxiety, and moral anxiety. Then the researcher found that the causes of anxiety felt by Aza Holmes include conflict, frustration, environment, threat, and age. In addition, this research was conducted with a qualitative descriptive method through content analysis of relevant scenes, monologue, and dialogues, then categorized according to indicators of types and causes of anxiety.
