Abstract
This research is entitled ‘Hegemony, Counter-hegemony, and Domination in Social Group Relations between Apes and Humans in the movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014)’. As such, this research is aimed to uncover the practices of hegemony, counter-hegemony and domination carried out by the characters, whether antagonists or protagonists, in the movie. This research uses Gramsci's hegemony theory and uses the descriptive qualitative method. Hence, there are four types of hegemony obtained in this research, including hegemony of power, ideological hegemony, cultural hegemony, and moral hegemony. Moreover, there are three types of counter-hegemony, which are passive resistance, humanistic resistance, and violent resistance. Furthermore, the results of domination are also obtained in this research.
