Abstract
This research was applied in a descriptive qualitative approach because the data were collected in the form of word sentences that aims how people respond to that post using positive and negative politeness strategies. This research aims to provide a detailed explanation or description of the results as factually as they are and was conducted on @Poemheaven’s Twitter account. where there is a tweet post from that account. The data in this research is in the form of sentences written by the netizen comments that reflect politeness strategies based on Brown and Levinson's theory (1987). Based on the research The use of positive politeness strategies in the data that have been found by first and second posts, which are predominantly used by netizens to respond to first post @PoemHeaven’s Twitter account posts are Exaggerate (interest, approval, sympathy with hearer) and for 2nd posts are Be Optimistic. Meanwhile, The use of Negative politeness strategies in the data that have been found by first and second posts, which are predominantly used by netizens to respond to first post @PoemHeaven’s Twitter account quotes are Be conventionally indirect and second posts are equal between Be Pessimistic and Minimize the imposition.
