Abstract

Judul skripsi ini adalah “A comparative study between novel and film The Fault in Our Stars”. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mendeskripsikan proses alih wahana dalam novel The Fault in Our Stars karya John Green yang diadaptasikan ke dalam film dengan judul yang sama. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teori dalam skripsi ini menggunakan teori Ekranisasi Pamasuk Eneste dan teori fiksi Robert Stanton. Kedua teori tersebut digunakan untuk menganalisis alih wahana pada element fiksi dari novel ke film. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa dalam proses ahli wahana terdapat penambahan, penciutan & perubahan yang terjadi pada tema, alur cerita, character, setting, sudut pandang & gaya dan nada. The title of this thesis is "A comparative study between the novel and movie The Fault in Our Stars". The purpose of the study is to describe the process of translation in the novel The Fault in Our Stars by John Green adapted into a movie with the same title. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The theory used is Pamasuk Eneste's Ekranisasi theory and Robert Stanton's fiction theory. Both theories are used to analyze the adaptation of works of art from novel to film. The results of this study show that in the process of adaptation there are reduction, additions, and modifications that occur in theme, plot, character, setting, point of view, and style & tone.
