Abstract

This study uses a Marxist feminist theoretical framework to examine the patriarchal dynamics in the 2015 movie Suffragette. The main goal of this study is to show how the film's social, legal, and economic systems represent how women are oppressed and how the female characters fight against the patriarchal system. Scenes, conversation, and visual symbols are the main subjects of the descriptivequalitative analysis. According to the research, Suffragette portrays a variety of oppression against women. These include state brutality against the women's movement, legal inequalities that favor men, and the exploitation of working-class women's labor. However, due to its limited depiction of colonialism and race, the film tends to portray a white feminist perspective. According to this study, Suffragette not only rewrites the history of the fight for women's suffrage but also criticizes the current patriarchal capitalist system.
