Abstract
This study analyzes the culture shock experienced by Emily Cooper in the series'Emily in Paris Season 1'. Using Oberg's (1960) theory (honeymoon stage, crisis, recovery, adjustment) and B.F. Skinner's (1938) reinforcement theory (positive
reinforcement and negative reinforcement), this descriptive qualitative study examines how Emily adapts to cultural differences in Paris. The results show that Emily goes through all stages of culture shock, from enthusiasm in the honeymoon stage, facing various cultural challenges in the crisis stage, and learning to adapt to finding solutions to face cultural challenges in the recovery stage, then successfully adapting, building relationships, and finally feeling comfortable in her new environment. Emily's experience highlights the complexity of cross-cultural
adaptation and its impact on identity and social relationships.
