Abstract
Continuity of Care (COC) is a service aimed at building a partnership between
midwives and clients so that midwives can provide continuous care throughout the
productive age and to prevent early risks that may occur during pregnancy,
childbirth, and up to six weeks postpartum. The purpose of this COC was to manage
continuous midwifery care for Mrs R at TPMB Midwife Dhora Yufita N., SST.,
MA., MKM., Kukusan, Beji, Depok, West Java, in 2024. This care used a case study
approach provided to Mrs. R starting from pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and
neonatal periods, as well as the application of complementary care in the form of
oxytocin massage. The results showed that Mrs. R’s pregnancy was routinely
monitored each month with no abnormalities found. During the ANC visit at 37
weeks of pregnancy, the mother had not experienced contractions and was given
oxytocin massage. Childbirth occurred spontaneously at term via vaginal delivery
on October 17, 2024. The second and third stages of labor proceeded normally,
while in the fourth stage, a second-degree perineal rupture was found and sutured
using simple interrupted stitches. Postpartum monitoring KF 1 (6 hours
postpartum), the mother complained of abdominal cramps, which was
physiological, KF 2 (7 days postpartum), the postpartum period progressed
normally, KF 3 (21 days postpartum), the postpartum period progressed normally,
KF 4 (29 days postpartum), the postpartum period progressed normally, and the
mother chose IUD contraception. The baby was born healthy, with no
abnormalities, cried loudly, and was male. Early initiation of breastfeeding (EIB)
was performed for 1 hour, and the baby was given a vitamin K injection and HB-0
immunization. KN 1 (6 hours), the baby’s condition was normal, KN 2 (7 days), the
baby’s condition was normal, KN 3 (21 days), the baby’s condition was normal, KN
4, The baby received BCG and oral polio immunizations. It can be concluded that
Mrs. R’s pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and neonatal periods proceeded
normally without complications, with complementary care provided as needed,
such as oxytocin massage to stimulate contractions. It is hoped that the
implementation of continuous and complementary care as a companion to
midwifery services can be applied to all mothers receiving antenatal care at TPMB
Bdn. Dhora Yufita N., SST., MA., MKM., to improve the health and safety of
mothers and babies.
