Abstract

This research is entitled “A Translation Analysis of Idiomatic Expressions in The Movie Spiderman No Way Home by Marvel Studios”. This research aims to unveil the translation methods of idiomatic expressions in the movie “Spiderman No Way Home” by Marvel Studios. The theory idiomatic expressions by Lim and the theory of translation by Newmark are used in conducting this research. Qualitative descriptive method is used to analyze the movie. The result shows that there are 25 data of idiomatic expressions, consisting of phrasal verb (14), idiom with adjectives as keywords (6), idiom with nouns as keywords (1) and idiom with verbs as keywords (4). There are 4 translation methods used to translate the movie script. They are communicative translation (18), literal translation (2), idiomatic translation (2) and word for word translation (3). Communicative translation is the most dominant method used to translate the movie script.
