Abstract
News conveys not only facts and/or events; rather, it also involves point-of-views and interests of the news-makers in making the reality. Given the intention of constructing reality, the research shall explore the news entitled, “Pengusaha di sekitar Istana” (“Businesses around the President”), that becomes the top news published by I-Review magazine, 25 edition, February 2015. The object of the study is based on the fact that the way of writing the news “penandatanganan nota kesepahaman (MoU) antara Adiperkasa Citra Lestari dan Proton Holding” is different from those exposed by some other media. The method used in the study is discourse analyses of Fairclough, with three dimensions of account—texts, discourse practice, and socio-cultural practice. Result of the study reveals that the news “Pengusaha di Sekitar Istana” is a critique of Joko Widodo, the President, because of giving privilages to businessmen near the President.
