Abstract

The Use of a Racism-Based Approach to analyze Judas and The Black Messiah (2021) as a movie script is the working title of this Undergraduate Thesis. The research issue is well-suited to the following questions. (1) How is the systemic racism represented from issues in the Judas and The Black Messiah movie script? (2) How does systemic racism affect black people's society in the aspect of the environment in the Judas and The Black Messiah movie script? The data source comes from Judas and The Black Messiah Movie Script (2021). This type of research is qualitative, according to Cresswell (2009), the Qualitative approach is a technique for data collection, analysis, interpretation, and report writing that differs from the traditional, quantitative approach. According to Ray Rist (1977) Like quantitative methodology, qualitative methodology is more than a collection of data collection techniques. It is an approach to the objective world. To analyze this research the researcher used Joe R. Feagin's theory to analyze the systemic racism and Georg Lukács’s Theory to analyze the reflection. Based on the analysis, it shows that all the systemic racism issues are portrayed by the dialogue, and the researcher also discovered how systemic racism reflects the black people in the aspect of society in the Judas and The Black Messiah movie script. Keywords: Racism, Systemic Racism, Black Society
