Abstract

In this research, the researcher used the descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data of figurative language and translation method discovered in Lana Del Rey's Album Entitled “Ultraviolence”, by collecting and analyzing both the Indonesian and English versions of the song. This research is intended to find out the types and meanings of figurative language used in Album Entitled “Ultraviolence”, and to find out the types and translation method used in Ultraviolence album. The researcher found some types of figurative language which is used in Ultraviolence album there are Metaphor 10, Simile 9, Personification 1, Hyperbole 5. And. The finding showed that translation method found were mostly literal translation (19) and zero adaptation and semantic translation. In addition, we can conclude that figurative language and translation contribute significantly to the lyrics in order to reach bigger audience. For this reason, songwriters use any figurative language within metaphorical words and sentences to make the song more engaging and help the reader think more about the message and the meaning behind it.
