Abstract

In general sense, cynicism refers to a negative and often sceptical or distrustful attitude towards people, institutions, or the world in general. Cynics tend to believe that human actions are motivated primarily by self-interest, and they are often critical or perceived hypocrisy, insincerity, or hidden motives in the behaviour of others.This study's objective is to analyze the cynicism in the book a novel ‘’ The Hunger Games by Suzzance Collins” and the translation strategies.This study employed a descriptive qualitative methodology. An analysis is based on sentences that contains cynicism or the satire expressed by the characters. The data are analyzed using the cynical theory of John Spacey and the theory of Molina and Albir. There are 9 types of cynicism including Negative Assumptions (18) , Defensive Cynicism (11), Paranoia Cynicism (5), Pessimism (3), Sour Grapes (2), Anticonformity (2), Nihilism (1), Postmodernism (6), Skepticism (2).were among the 50 table. data the researcher acquired from the teks dialog a novel the hunger games are 4 types.
