Abstract

This research discussed the classification of the types of metaphors and the meaning of metaphors contained in the song lyrics of BTS' be album. The study aimed to describe the types of metaphors and the meaning of metaphorical expressions found in the album's lyrics. The research used the theories of Stephen Ullmann (2009) and Knowless and Moon (2006) and employed a qualitative descriptive research method to collect and analyze data from the album's song lyrics. The research data consisted of seven songs, and the researchers identified 17 metaphorical types of data contained in the album's lyrics. The analysis of the seven songs led to the discovery of one anthropomorphic metaphor, three animal metaphors, ten metaphors of abstracting, and three synesthetic metaphors. Additionally, in analyzing the meaning of metaphors using three components, namely topic, vehicle, and ground, the meaning of metaphors was found in all data and had a relationship with their lexical meaning.
