Abstract

The objective of the study is to identify the types of figurative language and to analyze the meaning of figurative language found in selected Pamungkas album song lyrics. The researcher uses a descriptive qualitative in this study. The data of research were taken from Pamungkas song lyrics in selected Pamungkas album. The results showed that there are several types of figurative language found. They are 7 personifications, 11 metaphors, 5 hyperboles, and 2 similes. It concluded that the most frequently found figurative language in selected Pamungkas album song lyrics is metaphor. Most of the metaphors in the Pamungkas song are themed about the author's admiration for a woman. Many types of metaphors appear regarding the way of Pamungkas likens the woman he likes to something beautiful and some is the opposite, depending on the theme of each song. Even Pamungkas likens the woman to the most beautiful thing in a romantic-themed song.
