Abstract

This thesis means research on semiotic analysis in the novel "Poison" by Sara Poole. The objectives of this research are (1) to know the interpretation of signifiers and signs in the novel Poison by Sara Poole (2) to know the meaning of Poison in the novel with a semiotic approach. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The object of this research uses formal and material objects. Formally, this research uses a semiotic approach using Rolland Barthes' theory. Materially, this research uses the novel Poison by Sara Poole published in 2010 and several books that are used to analyze and support this research. in collecting data, the author uses an auxiliary sense in the form of notes. The author uses Roland Barthes' theory to analyze the semiotics in the novel "Poison" by Sara Poole. In this study, the author found that there are two parts of semiotic theory found in the novel "Poison" by Sara Poole, namely the signifier and the signified. there are nineteen signifiers and signifieds found in the novel "Poison" by Sara Poole in the table. then the researcher found the meaning of poison in the novel according to the signifiers and signifieds found, which means conspiracy. The result of this research is to provide an understanding of semiotic.
