Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the role of literary work, especially a movie script in reflecting the social phenomenon, especially the role of Russian Espionage in 21st century. The research applied library research by using reflection theory introduced by Georg Lukacs. The data source was an English movie script “Salt” written by Kurt Wimmer. The analysis is divided into three parts, they are identification of main/major character, social setting, and the reflection of the role of Russian Espionage in 21st century. The findings were follows. First, the major character was Evelyn Salt as her high intensity in all the events that build the whole story. Second, the social setting described the role of espionage, especially the Russian espionage. Third, the role of literary work in revealing the role of Russian espionage in 21st century. Finally, it can be concluded that literary work has played a very important role in revealing the social phenomenon.
