Abstract

This undergraduate thesis is entitled "Mimatic Study on Novel How Beautiful We Were by Imbolo Mbue”.
The objectives of this undergraduate thesis is to find cultural context in the novel How Beautiful We Were by
Imbolo Mbue. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The theory used in this
undergraduate thesis are mimetic theory by Abrams and social background. The result show that 41 cultural contexts, 7 data the system of welcoming guests in Africa society, 2 data
African community leadership system, 5 data the process of burial of African culture, 13 data the belief system
of African society, 2 data the job people in Africa, 4 data the marriage system in Africa, 6 data the life system
of American Society, 2 data the history of Africa. The role of cultural context is to provide insight into African
American society and to entice the readers to read this work.
