Abstract

The research aims to discuss about a translation shifts and Indonesian subtitle
translation in Luca's movie. The study adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, and the data
are analyzed by using Catford’s (1965) theoretical framework. The researcher also collected the
data through official website Disney+ for the subtitle. Furthermore, the findings show 27 class
shifts, 3 level shift, 38 structure shift, 22 unit or rank shift and 8 intra-system shifts. Among
these translation shifts, structure shift emerges as the most frequent in the movie, followed by
class shift and unit or rank shift.
