Abstract

This research aims at: 1) identifying the types of hyperbolic expressions, and 2) analyzing
the translation technique used in the song lyrics by Niki Zefanya’s. This type of research
is descriptive qualitative. The data are taken from Niki Zefanya’s song lyrics. In analyzing
the data, researcher used the theory by Claridge (2011) for types of hyperbole and the
theory of translation techniques by Molina and Albir (2002). The findings of this study
shows that: first, from 10 data, there are only 5 out of hyperbolic expressions proposed
by Claridge (2011) the researcher found (1) single word hyperbole, (3) phrasal hyperbole,
(1) clausal hyperbole, (2) numerical hyperbole, and (3) the role superlative. Second, from
10 data, the translator applies 1 types of literal translation techniques.
