Abstract

Kim Namjoon has done the speech that was classified as a Persuasive speech. The
reason why Kim Namjoon was chosen as an object of this research because he
known as a motivational person because he has always talked about many
interesting words and held the attention of many young people around the world.
This research discussed Kim Namjoon’s speech at Global Conferences, Live in
Social Media and Live Concert which aimed to find out the kinds and meaning of
illocutionary act. The data were collected by reading the script and observing the
context of the speech. This research was analyzed using descriptive qualitative
method and focused on John Searle’s theory. The result of this study were 38
utterances that contain Speech Acts. They were 5 videos of Kim Namjoon’s speech
that consist of 19 utterances for Assertive, 8 utterances for Directive, 10 utterances
for Expressive, 1 utterance for Commissive, and 0 data for Declaration.
