Abstract
This undergraduate thesis is entitled An Analysis of the Impact of Thought and
Emotions on Behaviour in Pixar’s Inside Out movie. The study aims and explore
how thoughts and emotion influence behaviour. Basic emotions and Cognitive
distortions were identified in this study. There are five basic emotions were
identified in this study Happiness (2 datum), Sadness (2 datum), Anger (2 datum),
Fear (2 datum), and also Disgust (2 datum). The genesis of Cognitive distortions in
the movie Inside Out is influenced by the five emotions. There are nine cognitive
distortions were identified in this study All or Nothing Thinking (2 datum),
Overgeneralization (3 datum), Mental Filtering (4 datum), Disqualifying the
Positive (1 datum), Catastrophizing (1 datum), Emotional Reasoning (1 datum),
Labelling (4 datum), Personalization (2 datum), and also Blaming (4 datum). The
method used is qualitative method. The theory used in this research is Cognitive
Behavioral Theory (CBT) specifically through the lens of using Inside Out movie
as a case study. Emotions and Cognitive distortions influence each other in a cycle
that can reinforce negative feelings and bad behaviour.
