Abstract
This research, titled The Patriarchy Issues Portrayed in Gary Ross' Ocean's 8,
examines the depiction of patriarchy and feminism in the 2018 heist comedy film
directed by Gary Ross. The film, which follows a group of women executing a heist
at the Met Gala, explores themes of feminism and patriarchy. This thesis analyzes
how these themes are represented and how they reflect real-world issues of gender
inequality. Through a detailed examination of characters, dialogue, and narrative,
the study focuses on how the film portrays feminism and patriarchy, employing
document and content analysis to uncover expressions of physical and
psychological violence. The research identifies ten key data points and two main
elements of patriarchy in the film.
