Abstract

Nias Island is one of the most famous tourist destinations in North Sumatra. This
island has only four regencies and one city in 2009, namely Nias Regency, South
Nias Regency, Gunungsitoli City, North Nias Regency, and West Nias Regency.
Nias Island is surrounded by the sea and other stunning natural beauty, and offers
many prospective tourist attractions. Various tourist attractions can be found on
Nias Island, such as beaches that are famous for diving, snorkeling, and surfing
lovers, as well as traditional houses. However, to facilitate tourist attractions that
suit the preferences of each tourist, an efficient system is needed. Therefore, this
study aims to develop a website-based application that will provide information to
recommend tourist attractions on Nias Island. The main objective is to provide
convenience for local and foreign tourists in determining tourist attractions
according to their preferences. The methods used are SAW and TOPSIS, which will
be implemented in building a tourist attraction recommendation system on Nias
Island. Through the use of the PHP programming language and MySQL database.
Therefore, a decision support system (DSS) will be designed that can assist in
selecting tourist attractions on Nias Island. In this study, several criteria used for
the process of selecting tourist objects are distance of place, accommodation,
places to eat, distance of health facilities, and beauty of the place. For the data used
in this calculation there are 15 candidate tourist objects, with this recommendation
system can help local and foreign tourists to visit Nias Island.
