Abstract
Urban forest areas with open and closed canopy (trees) have a variety of environmental conditions as a butterfly habitat. This study aims to assess the effect of environmental conditions on butterfly diversity in Tebet Urban Forest. The research was conducted on selected plots by referring to the purposive samplingmethod. The analysis showed that the variation in environmental conditions between the two habitats had no significant effect on butterfly diversity. Butterfly diversity in Tebet Urban Forest consists of 34 species; the number of species varied slightly between open areas (33 species) and closed areas (30 species); community composition (butterfly) the same (similarity index 90.32%). The diversity index value of butterflies between regions is also not different (classified as moderate: 1.5 -3.5), althoughit is relatively higher in closed areas (3.16) than in open areas (2.68). Thus, both habitat conditions have moderate butterfly communities, although they tend to be more stable in closed habitat conditions. Thus it can be concluded that the Tebet Urban Forest area is a habitat for butterflies, both in open areas and in closed areas.
