Abstract

This research examines compound words in Black Mirror subtitles from a translation perspective using a descriptive qualitative method. Bauer's (1983:202216) theory on how compound words are expressed into different forms is applied to identify the data and analyzed 20 data out of 50 data found. The findings of compound words that are most widely used are compound nouns. The analysis is then carried out by identifying the subject, predicate, object, and adverb, which are proposed by Langan (2003) the researcher gave two examples each for the function of compound words in sentences. And also analyzed 20 data of translation technique by newmark (1988). The study focuses on the first episode in the third season and analyzes each compound word individually. The findings reveal the various forms and functions of compound words in the subtitles of Black Mirror, which can aid translators in producing accurate and effective translations. This research contributes to the field of translation studies and can serve as a useful reference for future research`.
