Abstract

Myopia is a refractive disorder in which parallel light rays coming from infinity focus in front of the retina due to steep axial length. Myopia is a combination of genetic an environmental factors, where environmental factors support a greater influence because it has been associated with age factors, family history of suffering from myopia, outdoor avtivities, gadget use and near work activities. This study aims to find what factors are related to the incidence of myopia in school-age at SDN Mampang Prapatan 05 Jakarta. This research is a quantitative study with a cross sectional approach which was carried out from October to November 2022. The population in this study were grade 5 and 6 students at SDN Mampang Prapatan 05 Jakarta with the sampling method is Total Sampling, totaling 60 samples. The results of this study showed that there was a significant correlation between gadget use (p=0,036), genetic (p=0,009), reading behavior (p=0,002) with the incidence of myopia, the absence of a significant relationship between outdoor activities and the incidence of myopia (p=0,327). Factors that influence the incidence of myopia at SDN Mampang Prapatan 05 Jakarta are gadget use, genetic, and reading behavior. Keywords: Myopia, Risk Factors, School Age
