Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyse the grammatical cohesion found in TED Talks video entitled “Bill Gates: The next outbreak? We’re not ready”. The type of the study used in this case is descriptive qualitative research. This study is done by finding data of grammatical cohesion in the form of word, phrase, clause, and sentence and then determining the type of it based on Halliday and Hasan theory and its translation technique based on Molina and Albir theory. Based on the analysis, it was found that the video contains Anaphoric References with 45% percentage and Established Equivalence Translation Technique with 45% percentage from 33 analysed data in purposive sampling which also answered the research problem.
