Abstract

Iles-iles (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume) is one of Monocotyl plant had been introduced and cult!vated by Indonesian people since many years ago. This fant has Araceae family and Amorphophallus genus name . The bulb of A. ~ue/leri contain glucomannan po~der and very valuable for food, drink, pharmacy.cosmeti~, paper,. rubber,. I ext I Ie,film, . min~, microbiology, and glue indus-ries. Cul/ivatlOn of this plant IS easly. lies-lies IS the best growth if cultivated on ~O/0 60 percents sunlight, 6 to 7,5 of soil acididy, sandy, loose, and compost soil, lowland /0 upland (1000 meters from surface of the sea water), rainfall 1000/0 1500 milimeters every year, and air temperature 26 to 30 Celcius degreeses. Localname ofiles-iles is porang, iles-iles, ponang (Jawa), kruwu, lorkong.labing. subeg leres, subeg bali (Madura), acung, cocoan oray, (Sunda), and badur (Nusa Tenggara Barat).
