Abstract

This research used the descriptive qualitative method. This research analyzes the types of phrasal verb, translation technique of phrasal verb, and quality assessment of phrasal verb translation. The data in this research are all phrasal verbs in the novel. The sources of data in this research are the It Ends With Us novel in both English and Bahasa Indonesia versions. The data are analyzed by finding the phrasal verb in the source language and the target language. In this research, I use the theory of Biber et al., Molina and Albir, and Nababan. The result of this research shows that (1) there are 55% transitive phrasal verbs (21.25% separable and 33.75% inseparable), and 45% intransitive phrasal verbs. (2) There are 5 translation techniques used by the translators: Established Equivalent, Transposition, Discursive Creation, Compensation, and Particularization. (3) The accuracy, acceptability, and readability based on the impact of translation technique is 2.95. The quality with inaccurate, unacceptability, and unreadability is not found in the data.
