Abstract

This research is entitled "Dissociative identity disorder in the mini-series Moon Knight". This study aims to reveal the main character mental disorder in the film Moon Knight including what type of mental disorder and its symptoms. In conducting this study, the researcher analyzed everything regarding dissociative identity disorder in the main character using David Spiegel theory. The researcher used qualitative descriptive method. The researcher collects data using purposive sampling from the conversations and actions of the main character and other characters that are integral to the plot of the film. The following are the results of the study: (1) each supporting cast of characters in the film has a characterization and action that influences the main character mental disorder; (2) there are 2 types of factors that affect the main character mental disorder, Childhood Trauma (physical or sexual abuse), and Iatrogenesis (false diagnosis); (3) the primary cause of the main character dissociative identity disorder is through childhood trauma (can be seen in a flashback regarding the main character childhood); and (4) the type of mental disorder that the main character suffered from is dissociative identity disorder with auditory hallucination, localized amnesia, derealization, and depersonalization as the secondary symptoms.
