Abstract

This research discusses the similarities and differences between the Javanese language and the Indonesian language. Prominent similarities between the two languages occur in their features as agglutinative languages to form complex words. In forming complex words such as pitulingan in Javanese, affixes pi- an are used; likewise, affixes pe-an are employed in forming the same form pertolongan in Indonesian. The difference between the languages occurs in their noun categories. In Javanese language, affixes such as pa-, pi-pi-...an. ke..an are used whereas in Indonesian affixes ke-...an, ter-,per...an are utelized.
