Abstract

This research is ent it led “A FEMALE INDEPENDENCE ANALYSIS ON THE MAIN CHARACTER GRACE HOLLAND IN THE NOVEL THE STARS ARE FIRE BY ANITA SHREVE.” The purpose of this research is to determine the main character portrays female independence values and the impact female independence values have on the life of the main character in the novel The Stars Are Fire by Anita Shreve. This research uses a qualitative method. The theory used in this research is the theory of feminism according to Mary Wollstonecraft, which has 13 types. The results of this research are that the researcher found data in 11 of the 13 types of feminism theory according to Mary Wollstonecraft. The most frequently found data is data with the type of feminism Women's Ability to Think Logically, and no data was found with the type of feminism Women Prefer Momentary Pleasure Over Pursuing Equality With Men and Women Who Are Enslaved by Prejudice Find It Difficult to Be Good Mothers.
