Abstract

This research aims to analyze the forms of expressive act and analyze the meaning
of the expressive act. This thesis, entitled "Analysis of expressive act at gramy
awards 2023". The data collection used is the sentences of people who gave
speeches at the 2023 Gramy Awards which were taken from the Gramy Awards
YouTube. In this study, researchers found that expressive acts often occur at Gramy
Awards 2023. Expressive acts also indicate a picture of the atmosphere that occurs
in a person, whether it is sadness, happiness, difficulties, etc., which are not only
expressed in sentences but , can be explained by the person's expression. And this
research uses the theory of George Yule (1996) as well as several supporting
theories. The technique used in this research is transcribing observation. This
research uses qualitative methods and all speaker utterances are analyzed
descriptively. It can be seen that the expressive actions in the Granny Awards
appear in the form of expressions and contains meanings such as pleasure, joy,
liking, expressive of thanking, difficulties, praise, congratulations.
